Founded in 1889, YMCA World Service is part of the YMCA of the USA International Group.

A: YMCA World Service-funded projects help YMCAs in other countries strengthen their capacity to develop strong leadership and self-reliance, which improves program quality and the holistic development of the community. Q: How are YMCA World Service-funded projects chosen?
A: Projects are selected based on need and merit, and address critical community needs. YMCA World Service grants are administered by members of the YMCA of the USA International Group who are experienced in international development, have extensive knowledge of regional history and cultural traditions, and maintain trusted relationships with local community and YMCA leaders. All funded projects are approved by the International Committee of the YMCA of the USA Board of Directors.

A: YMCA World Service-funded initiatives focus on underprivileged youth, disadvantaged and indigenous populations in areas of the world that have limited access to financial and technical resources for youth and community development.

A: You may choose to designate your gift to a specific, approved, YMCA World Service project. Undesignated gifts to YMCA World Service however, are the most effective way to ensure that resources have the greatest impact and reach those who most need it.
