Information technology is one of the major forces influencing opportunities for young people today. Youth have better academic and employment prospects if they have access to computer and information technology. YMCA training not only teaches participants the necessary technical skills for employment but also focuses on the ways in which technology can positively drive social, political and economic change in their communities.

The YMCA of Senegal

In 2001, the Senegalese government challenged public and private institutions alike to create innovative programs that provide technology equipment and instruction. The Senegal YMCA responded by initiating the InfoNet-Jeunes (Youth InfoNet) program to ensure the "dispersion of Information Technology and Communication knowledge to society's most disadvantaged persons."
