The YMCA is focused on developing the untapped potential of young people and empowering them to define, build and deliver their own solutions to social problems. YMCAs around the world view service-learning opportunities as critical to youth development. Service-learning involves young people engaging in community development initiatives, such as peer-to-peer HIV prevention education, environmental conservation or the revitalization of community parks and safe spaces.
