Change A Life Change The World
Ys worldwide empower people with the skills and opportunities to create a better future for themselves. World Service helps them achieve this.
On November 8, 2013, a massive typhoon made landfall in the Philippines, killing thousands, impacting millions and devastating entire communities. The Philippines YMCA immediately responded to the resulting humanitarian crisis by providing critical supplies including water, food, medicine and shelter. In January, it turned its focus to recovery and rehabilitation efforts to help families move past the tragedy.
A well-established nonprofit in the country, the Philippines YMCA has the local presence, expertise and relationships to organize recovery plans and directly help those in need. Thanks to the outpouring of support from generous donors across the global Y Movement, the Philippines YMCA is helping thousands of people displaced by Typhoon Haiyan to rebuild their lives and their communities. To support their efforts, YMCA of the USA World Service has established the Philippines YMCA Relief Fund with 100 percent of donations going to relief and recovery efforts in the Philippines.
Below are the latest updates on the Y’s efforts to help those impacted by this disaster. For more information, call YMCA of the USA World Service at (800) 872-9622. Thank you for your support.
