A Little Goes A Long Way: Study Shows Running 5 Miles A Week Adds Years to Lifespan

A new landmark study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology concluded that running as little as 5 to 10 minutes a day at speeds slower than 6 miles per hour (10:00 pace) "is associated with markedly reduced risks of death from all causes and cardiovascular disease." These are exciting findings that could help motivate a large number of sedentary adults to start exercising. more

Cain Wins First U.S. Distance Medal in World Junior Championships

In the 28 year history of the IAAF World Junior Championships, not a single American had won a medal in a distance event over 800 meters.  That changed on Thursday night at Hayward Field, when Mary Cain won the 3000 meters race with a blazing kick. more

Yoga Can Improve Mental Capacity in Older Adults

A study published this week in The Journals of Gerontology showed that older adults who practiced yoga three times a week for eight weeks improved their performance when tested on their brains' executive function. Generally this isn't surprising, as most exercise is usually shown to be beneficial to mental capacity. more
