Quality Time

I’m sure there isn’t a parent alive who doesn’t feel the guilt of not spending enough time with their kids. I don’t want to speak for everyone, but I know that i am always reminded that work can wait, this precious time goes fast and that I should enjoy it. Can you relate? more

No Sick Days

I knew this day would come. It wasn't a matter of if, but when. It was my first time getting sick as mom. Really sick. A sinus infection with a side of bronchitis, to be exact. To make matters worse, the baby girl was sick too. A high fever, congestion, runny nose, the whole nine yards. And the cherry on top, her dad was out of town on a business trip. more

Snow Day!

If you are in the Northern United States, you’ve likely seen a lot of snow these past few days. I’m afraid to look, but I’m pretty sure my car is snowed-in my garage and last I heard we had a foot of snow. Many schools have already canceled classes and you may be taking a day or two off of work. If you’re like me and have no immediate plans to leave your house, you may end up with bored kids suffering from cabin fever. more

Being Intentional

I used to work a full-time corporate job as a web developer. It was never my plan to have that job, it just kind of happened. While I don’t regret that entry on my resume, it never really felt right. For years I fought the uneasy feeling that it wasn’t the career for me. The money was good and I liked my co-workers, so I decided I would just make do.  more

Time (Management) Waits for No One

I had lofty aspirations to have the most productive Thanksgiving holiday ever. While I wouldn’t trade all the family, friends, fun and food from the last few days, I’m currently spending my Sunday evening picking up the slack from all the work I didn’t get to. more

Spa Day

Like many moms, self care has fallen to the bottom of my list of important activities. I know I have to make time for me, but work and family obligations regularly move to the front of the queue. Also, getting to the spa can be a stretch. more

The Age of Entitlement

Many of us have been there. As children, we often want what we want when we want it. I was an unusually considerate child growing up (my mom’s words, not  mine), so I didn’t gripe much about not getting material things. But like most kids and teens past and present, I whined about washing dishes or taking out the trash, I watched way too much TV and generally felt like I should be able to do what I wanted.  more

Hey There Lonely Mom

I have previously written about how hard it is to make mom friends, but reading this blog post made me relive how lonely being a mom can be. When I was preparing to become a mom, I was warned about many things, but soul-crushing loneliness was not one of them. more
