Like many moms, self care has fallen to the bottom of my list of important activities. I know I have to make time for me, but work and family obligations regularly move to the front of the queue. Also, getting to the spa can be a stretch. more

How Much Sleep Do You Need?

You just crammed for an all-nighter before a big test tomorrow. Maybe it's Sunday night, and you're lying in bed wide awake at 3 in the morning when your alarm for work's going to go off at 7. Or perhaps you just stepped off a plane and no matter how you adjusted the head rest or your neck pillow, you still couldn't get more than two hours of shut eye. Just how much sleep do we need to be productive and lead a well-rested life? more

Time Out

We’ve been rushing around the past few days. Yesterday, we visited with two moms groups, went to the Y and dropped the baby in the Kids’ Zone, and then scurried to meet a visiting cousin for dinner, not getting home until way past bedtime (for all of us). No wonder we had a crankypants on our hands before the food arrived. And the baby wasn’t happy, either!  more

View from the Top

This past summer, young leaders from all around the world gathered at the YMCA Europe Youth Festival in Prague. One of the main attractions was a giant tree house where everyone gathered to hang out, exchange ideas, and - for some lucky folks - camp out for the night thirty feet above the ground. Throughout the festival, the buzz about this clubhouse in the sky was that it was not only a great place to create a community in the treetops but also a good place to relax, unwind, and meditate. While the tree house in the Czech Republic has come and gone, here are a few other places around the world worth checking out.  more
