8 Great Smartphone Apps for Creating Positive Habits

As much a I don’t want to admit it, I’m a smartphone addict. Like many moms, I have to maximize my free time as much as possible and my phone allows me to do that. Besides making phone calls and sending texts, I write blog posts, respond to emails, pay bills and everything else with my handheld device. It’s so much easier than having to pull out my laptop or sit at my desktop computer.

Miraculous Morning

Consistency is a struggle I know all too well. Once I had Maya, that became less of a problem. When you have a baby depending on you 24/7, you often have no choice but to get your act together. I was like supermom those first few months, doing it all and feeling very proud of myself. But it couldn’t last and burnout took over. Motherhood came first, but everything else seemed to take a backseat. I was pretty hard on myself, but everyone else was much more willing to give me a pass.

View from the Top

This past summer, young leaders from all around the world gathered at the YMCA Europe Youth Festival in Prague. One of the main attractions was a giant tree house where everyone gathered to hang out, exchange ideas, and - for some lucky folks - camp out for the night thirty feet above the ground. Throughout the festival, the buzz about this clubhouse in the sky was that it was not only a great place to create a community in the treetops but also a good place to relax, unwind, and meditate. While the tree house in the Czech Republic has come and gone, here are a few other places around the world worth checking out.

Do You Leave Your Earbuds at Home?

The world is full of distractions meant to get us "out of our heads." Listening to music or audio books while running is so common that those who aren't wearing earphones have become a minority. It can be good way to relieve stress and distract your from discomfort. I'm a big music fan who listens to music all time time. Except when I'm running.
