The Y Gave me a Great Opportunity to Build Things

Rebecca has lots to be proud of her son, Avery, but nothing makes us happier when we see kids growing and thriving during science, technology, engineering, and math opportunities at Ys across the country. This is her son's Y. His camera. His story.  more

We All Scream for Bright Screens

I’m going to take a chance here. I’m going to assume that I’m not the only one who stares at screens a little more time than I’d like. Small screens, big screens, we all scream for bright screens....This is hurting me. more

Time Out

We’ve been rushing around the past few days. My daughter is only five months old, but warnings to savor this time come uninvited from both friends and strangers. “They’ll be off to college in a blink.” “The longest shortest time.” I get the ‘longest’ part. In the middle of the night when she wakes up for another straight hour on the hour, those afternoons when we’re circling the block again to not wake her. more

What, me worry?

I read an article yesterday about how just the act of worrying makes people miserable. Great! Now I can add the effect of worrying to my list of worries!

If you asked me a year ago if I was a worrier, I would have said no. Definitively no. I know that I can’t predict or avoid the pitfalls, and there will be pitfalls, so I don’t (usually) spend time on them before I have to. more
