YMCA Careers in Outreach and Community Development

YMCAs' outreach and community development efforts include alternative schools, gang intervention, youth offender programs, family literacy programs, tutoring, substance abuse prevention, life skills and job training, employment services, permanent and transitional housing, and much more. It also includes such simple steps as linking a child with a baseball coach who cares more about building self-esteem, confidence and values than hitting a home run or winning.

Caring, dedicated YMCA staff and volunteers listen and help youth, teen and families navigate the stresses, changes, challenges and choices that often come with life.
