Job Description:


Under the guidance of the President/Chief Executive Officer, and in accordance with Association policies, the Executive Director is responsible for the day to day operations of the Fort Walton Family YMCA. This position directly supervises multiple departments including but not limited to aquatics, KidZone, sports, health and fitness and other departments as mutually agreed upon. In addition this position will work closely with the Branch Advisory Board of Directors and President/Chief Executive Officer to ensure maximum membership engagement. Preferred candidate will have expertise in health and fitness, community outreach and fundraising. This position is responsible for all facility operations and provides leadership to the YMCA Annual Campaign.


This position requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field and/or with a minimum of 3 years professional experience. Completion of the YMCA Leadership Competency Assessment will be required. Candidates should have a positive history of leadership in the areas of staff development, program development, fiscal budgeting, fundraising and management, and operational procedures. Multi-Team or Branch Leader Certification preferred. Proven ability to display initiative, good judgment and ability to make decisions independently is required. Able to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills; public speaking, capacity to prepare reports, conduct training programs, create policies and guidelines, proven financial development experience and skills. Will possess competent computer skills in the Windows environment.


Staff Development: Hires, supervises, trains and evaluates staff teams. Consults with Landrum Professional before suspending or terminating staff members.

Volunteer Development: Develops and directs the YMCAs volunteer program. Records all volunteer hours monthly for reporting.

Financial Development: Provides leadership to staff and volunteers in the YMCAs Annual Campaign. Assists with all other fundraising activities and goals.

Budget Management: In consultation with the President/Chief Executive Officer, prepares, develops, administers and controls all department fiscal budgets including meeting income targets and expense control.

Facility Management: Responsible for providing clean and well maintained facilities and grounds. Works with staff to upgrade facilities and equipment.

Strategic Planning: Works with the President/Chief Executive Officer, Branch Advisory Board and volunteers to develop annual branch goals and individual staff goals as determined by the Association's Strategic Plan.

Recordkeeping: Gathers statistics as needed.

Risk Management: Ensures the safety of members and staff. Immediately reports and corrects any areas requiring attention.

Program Team: Serves as Lead Staff Liaison for the Branch Advisory Board.

Other Duties: Assists the President/Chief Executive Officer with any other projects or activities as assigned to help branch reach its goals and objectives.
