Job Description:

The Human Resources Generalist provides Human Resource administrative and project support to the Vice President of Human Resources and the Human Resources department.

KNOW HOW

Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university required. 1-3 years of professional Human Resources experience post-college required. Strong human relation skills, oral and written communication skills, and organizational skills; a strong sense of time management; and the ability to exercise discretion required. Strong proficiency with Microsoft applications including Excel and Word, required. Ability to learn and become proficient in Kronos HRIS software. Ability to interact of people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages and lifestyles.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES

  • Maintains Association employment records in both electronic and hard-copy forms in accordance with applicable State and Federal laws
  • Benefits Administration (FMLA, Workers Compensation, STD, medical, dental & vision, etc. for part time and full time employees)
  • Manages Intern program; Updates Intern Job postings on website and local college websites, reviews intern applications and communicates with managers regarding new interns and postings, tracks all active interns, and
  • Creates, edits, and maintains internal and external Human Resources documents and reports using a variety of software applications
  • Manages Volunteer Program; Reviews, processes, and distributes YMCA volunteer applications and maintains volunteer records
  • Provides project research and support to the Human Resources department
  • Utilizes Association HRIS software to enter and update employment information
  • Represents the Association at local employment fairs and recruitment events
  • Responds to employment questions from YMCA management and staff and directs as necessary
  • Maintains current with professional Human Resources knowledge and trends as well as applicable state and federal labor laws
  • Provides necessary administrative support to all areas of the Human Resources group

Performs any and all other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids

Salary: $33,000 - $38,000
