Job Description:

The YMCA of Broome County is seeking a dynamic, innovative Chronic Disease Specialist, with an inspirational, hands-on leadership style, and a passion to work with diverse populations within the community to change lives. This position is concerned primarily with the achievement of the purpose, goals, and objectives of the YMCA, in promoting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Chronic Disease Specialist is responsible for assessing community need for chronic disease initiatives, as well as maintaining, promoting and playing a primary role in existing programs such as the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA cancer survivorship program, the Y's Diabetes Prevention program for pre-diabetics, and in programs that help older adults (seniors) maintain their independence. Candidates must have exceptional human relations skills and be comfortable with public speaking and presenting information to top management, local executives, public groups and the Board of Directors. Additional supervisory duties may be added after a probationary period, accompanied by additional compensation. The Chronic Disease Specialist works directly with the Executive Director on all strategic processes and is part of the management team that strives to serve the community through both traditional and non-traditional programming.

Requirements and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is energetic, personable, dedicated, well organized and thrives in a fast paced, challenging work environment. They must possess a Bachelors degree, or 4 years experience with demonstrated success in program development and administration, fund raising, grant writing and facility management. Requires a proven track record in managing budgets. Must possess exceptional interpersonal, verbal/written communication, employee coaching, mentoring and management skills.

Salary: $29,500 - $35,000

Additional Compensation Details:

8% retirement contribution after meeting eligibility requirements.

Eligible for medical, dental, vision and specific health insurance, as well as vacation and sick time after successful completion of qualification period. Family membership to all YMCA of Broome County facilities.
