Job Description:


Under the direction of the District Executive Director/District Vice President, the Executive Director is responsible for the overall operation of a Family Center. Responsible for the development and effective implementation of a full range of services including but not limited to membership, health and wellness, aquatics, day camp and child care, community outreach, and sports programs. Responsible for the development of the Board and Board activities. Primary accountabilities include fiscal management, fund raising, program and membership development, community development, marketing, and staff development. This position is expected to attend Association and branch functions during and after operational hours as well as on weekends and holidays. This position is responsible for the achievements of Association and Family Center goals in accordance with the policies, procedures, and standards established by the Central Florida YMCA.


  • Directs and administers total family center operations including execution of established policies
  • Manages operational budget, assists in budget preparation, recommends adjustments exercising necessary controls to ensure operations are consistent and goals are met with success
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate working relationships with staff and volunteers, community leaders and organizations
  • Assists in long range vision and plans for the continued success of the family center to include membership retention strategies, new programs, expansion opportunities, etc
  • Work collectively with Membership, Aquatics, Wellness and all other Senior Directors to plan and provide a variety of programs to members which maximizes available facilities Hiring, training, coaching, supervising and evaluating staff
  • Work collectively with Annual Support department to organize and conduct annual sustaining efforts
  • Actively participate in the Senior Management meetings Works with Board of Directors and other volunteer committees
  • Develops and maintains contacts in the community with political, business, and civic leaders to educate and inform the YMCA mission
  • Works with volunteers, staff and members. Interacts broadly with general public, community groups, business/industry, and schools
  • All other duties assigned by Management


This position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness with which the Branch accomplishes its purpose, goals and objectives in serving the community. Therefore, the effectiveness of this position should be measured by the following: Focused on driving Family Center growth through specific monthly and annual goals: Overall Fiscal Responsibility Drive membership unit growth Grow membership revenue Drive membership retention Responsible to ensure that 100% of members are connected Financial Development Staff Training & Development.


  • To be successful, you must meet some education, training and experience requirements and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and physical abilities.


  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in management business or related field.
  • 5years' experience managing a YMCA Family Center.
  • Experience with fiscal management, board relations, membership growth and retention, fund raising, program management, community relationship building, facility care preferred
  • Experience in working closely with non-profit Boards of Directors and volunteer leadership committees preferred
  • Experience in advocating the YMCA vision
  • First Aid
  • CPR certification
  • Some locations require Bilingual Candidate

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000
