Job Description:

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is celebrating 160 years of developing healthy kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. We continue to provide needed services to our community through the passion and commitment of our team. The Vice President of Healthy Living is a highly visible leader who is responds to health and wellness trends with innovative programs and services. Success will be demonstrated by program implementation and measurable results that convey and connect all Y wellness programs into a comprehensive strategy with consistent delivery.

We are searching for an exemplary individual who has achieved success in integrating a high level of leadership accomplishments, business operational experience, technical expertise, and measurable outcomes. We need an innovative and charismatic leader to increase our impact in our communities.

Our ideal candidate has demonstrated experience and results in these areas of responsibility; as well as the ability to implement, measure and refine.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Champion and direct the development and accomplishment of Y Healthy Living Strategy
  • Support advancement of capacity for high quality program delivery at existing and new sites
  • Create and implement relevant, efficient, and sustainable healthy living programs for adults and children
  • Develop and strategically integrate new wellness programs/services with collaborative internal and external partners
  • Facilitate and lead Wellness Advisory Committee comprised of diverse experts from several wellness disciplines including but not limited to pediatrics, general medicine, nutrition, geriatrics, physical therapy, etc. to further enhance the Ys branch as well as meet the objectives of improving the health and well-being of the Washington region
  • Provide strong recruitment, training, and succession processes to insure the hiring, professional development and retention of high quality staff
  • Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all departmental staff
  • Develop programs and services that support new market opportunities and expansion of workplace wellness
  • Indentify and build strategic partnerships such as hospital based and public/private

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates for this position should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in health science, kinesiology or related field, Master's degree preferred
  • Eight (8) years work experience leading a broad spectrum of healthy living programs to include fitness, strategic partnerships, community wellness, and employee wellness
  • Proven track record managing large wellness team at multiple locations consisting of group exercise, personal training, and innovative programming
  • Must be able to work with staff with diverse levels of wellness expertise
  • Extensive experience creating and implementing innovative heath and wellness programs that incorporate all aspect of health living, including nutrition, exercise, preventative programs for at risk populations, group exercise, and personal training
  • Expert knowledge of wellness education and regional health trends
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and analyze financial data/reports
  • Collaborative leadership style
  • Ability to motivate, inspire and influence others to achieve results
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exemplify superior leadership presence with the ability to gain credibility, rapport and support with all key internal and external stakeholders

Salary: $100,000 - $117,000
