Job Description:

The YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities has an incredible and rewarding opportunity for a Vice President of Urban Development (Social Responsibility) to join our executive team!

The Vice President of Urban Development will provide leadership for Beacons, Achievers and School Success programs. They will lead the North Community YMCA Youth and Teen Enrichment Center. The incumbent will supervise urban programs, Heritage Park and the University YMCA. They will lead the Urban Programs Community Board to fund urban initiatives. The VP Urban Development will position the Y to be a collective impact leader in our community. They will play a significant role in diversity and inclusion strategy.

Essential Functions

  • Champion and direct the Y urban development strategy.
  • Lead the North Community YMCA Youth and Teen Enrichment Center; supervise urban programs, Heritage Park and the University Y.
  • Build and leverage relationships with community partners, for innovative program development and implementation.
  • Build and sustain high-quality, innovative programing that supports new market opportunities.
  • Lead the Urban Programs community Board and meet financial targets to fund urban initiatives.
  • Effectively manage the budget, meeting all financial targets
  • Co-chair the Association's Diversity and Inclusion Committee
  • Recruit, hire and develop a strong urban development leadership team.
  • Collaborate internally, helping Y branches and programs increase their capacity to deliver consistently high-level programming in the area of urban development.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human services, business or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing urban development programming and initiatives.
  • A minimum of 3 years executive management experience.
  • Knowledge of best practices and current trends in the area of urban development.
  • Ability to build and sustain strategic relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability in budget management.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to motivate inspire and influence others to achieve results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to think conceptually and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities and achieve organizational objectives.
Physical Demands
  • YMCA or non-profit experience.
  • YMCA Organizational Leader certification.
