Job Description:

General Function:

Provides leadership and direct service to the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis Association facilities for overall maintenance functions as required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing hands-on training for current Directors of Buildings & Grounds/related staff
  • Providing inspection and maintenance repairs for all mechanical, electrical and plumbing at all branches
  • Providing minor maintenance repairs at branches without a Property Manager on staff
  • Providing preventative maintenance on all branch HVAC equipment
  • Opening and closing outdoor pool equipment for branches and providing labor for some annual capital projects
  • The Technician is responsible for organizing and scheduling preventive maintenance work to be performed by staff or contractors, in consultation with Association Director of Buildings and Properties, in our buildings and to assist branch directors/property managers upon request, with building problems

Know How:

  • This position requires proven successful experience in facility maintenance & operations and the ability to solve problems using strong organization skills
  • Must have thorough knowledge of buildings and related mechanical, electrical, HVAC and plumbing functions to insure a clean, safe environment with well-maintained facilities for our members and staff
  • The ability to coordinate projects to achieve a common goal and meet deadlines by working with staff and contractors is also required
  • The incumbent must have a broad base of knowledge and experience in facility mechanical systems, trouble shooting, procedures and practices in maintenance, inspection and preventive maintenance practices, occupational hazards and safety precautions, laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to equipment operation, and the ability to advise on such areas
  • Must be highly safety conscious
  • The incumbent must possess knowledge of the YMCA as a lay/staff partnership and possess the necessary human relations' skills to work with corporate staff, branch staff, and lay leadership and outside vendors
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience is required for this position and/or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position

Salary: $45,465 - $56,831
