Job Description:

The YMCA of Greater New York reaches half a million New Yorkers through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are seeking experienced professionals to provide leadership to our member service operations at two new branches; the Rockaways YMCA, in Arverne Queens, and the Coney Island YMCA in Brooklyn. Major responsibilities for each position include achieving member acquisition goals, delivering a high level of customer service plus monitoring member satisfaction and retention. Details of these exciting employment opportunities are noted below.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure members receive premiere service by monitoring staff adherence to membership policies, procedures, best practices and standards.
  • Recruit, develop, train, supervise and evaluate membership staff.
  • Develop, track and control the department budgets in accordance with Branch & Association Guidelines.
  • Ensure appropriate training and development for staff in related program areas.
  • Serve as a branch liaison to the Association's Membership Cabinet - attend all cabinet meetings and carry out Association's initiatives.
  • Assist in fundraising events and annual support campaigns with a focus on Members as Donors.
  • Set annual priority objectives - improve service, based on member feedback and annual staff evaluations.
  • Work within the community to foster a positive image of the YMCA to ensure good public relations.
  • Attend trainings, seminars and conferences related to membership.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience in sales or member/customer service.
  • Demonstrated track record of generating leads and closing sales.
  • Ability to implement successful member service best practices at the branch. Experience facilitating member service training programs a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel; knowledge of AS400/ORACLE is a plus.
