YMCA: Lompoc Family YMCA

Location: Lompoc, CA

This is a great opportunity for a committed Y professional to work with a cause-driven staff and a passionate volunteer team. The recently renovated branch is located in the heart of the Lompoc Valley which is located off of the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, 55 miles northwest of Santa Barbara. Lompoc is known for its mild climate, beautiful rolling hills, enjoys worldwide acclaim as the "Valley of the Flowers", and is home to Vandenberg Air Force Base. This position oversees the operation of the branch including membership, marketing, programs, facilities, volunteer and staff development, financial and capital development, community relations, and collaborations with community agencies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of four years YMCA Associate Director experience or related work experience.
  • YMCA Multi-Team/ Branch Leader certification or Organizational Leader certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce positive results in areas of financial development, board & volunteer development, program development and administration, staff supervision, and fiscal management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, self-starter with initiative to work independently.
  • Must have ability to develop strong, positive relationship with branch volunteers, business and civic leaders, and give dynamic leadership to board, staff and community.
  • Must be able to envision the YMCA's future and stimulate staff and volunteers to carry out plans that turn visions into reality.
  • Passionate commitment to the YMCA mission, member engagement, and the YMCA character values.
  • Must have visual, physical, and auditory ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
  • Professional demeanor and proven supervisory skills in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating staff and volunteers, as well as developing an effective staff team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Fiscal Management: Develop and manage a $900,000 operating budget, forecast revenues, control expenses, and make budget adjustments as needed. Develop strategies for building revenue producing programs; develop a culture within the staff and board for good fiscal responsibility.

Program Development: Responsible for overall membership and program growth. With newly completed renovation, seeking development and implementation of innovative programs and membership growth. Major programs include a membership of 650 membership units; 5 Offsite Licensed Child Care Centers; day camp; teen programs; Child watch; Health and Fitness. Programs are delivered in an 11,903 square-foot facility and collaboration with City of Lompoc Aquatics Center.

Human Resource Management: Direct supervision of 3 exempt staff and oversight of a workforce of 55 employees.

Volunteer Development: Serve as Staff Officer to a 20-member Board of Managers including Executive, Annual Campaign, Board Development, Finance and Membership Service Committee's. Oversee the management of program volunteers and campaign volunteers; implementation of Programs Committee necessary.

Planning: Manage the long-range strategies developed by the Association and Branch strategic plans. Develop and manage the tactical plans documented in the annual branch operating plan.

Financial Development: Plan to direct annual current support campaign to achieve a goal of $95,000 working with volunteers. Develop and implement plans for recruitment of members to the Heritage Club.

Service Area and YMCA Association: The Channel Islands YMCA is a Mid-Major YMCA with an operating budget of $15 million. The Lompoc Family YMCA is one of 7 YMCA branches in the Channel Islands YMCA Association. With a service area of approximately 12 square miles and a population of 42,434, the ethnic makeup of the Lompoc Family YMCA service area is:

White 69% Black 8% Hispanic 38% Asian/Pacific Islander 5% Other 17%

The median household income for The Lompoc Family YMCA service area is approximately $41,000.

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000

Additional Compensation Details:

Salary D.O.E. Excellent benefits including options of medical, dental, life insurance, LTD; vacation, sick leave and personal days per policy. 8% fully-paid retirement once eligibility requirements are met.
