YMCA: YMCA of Middle Tennessee

Location: Nashville, TN

Job Description:

Consistent with the Christian mission and Hope for Life Vision of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, and in cooperation with other YMCA staff, under the direction of the CEO, the Senior Vice President of Philanthropy will provide leadership, vision, and direction to the Association, leading staff and volunteers in philanthropic support of annual, capital and planned giving initiatives. The SVP of Philanthropy is responsible for oversight of raising ten million dollars + annually, developing and implementing an integrated philanthropy plan to meet the Association's philanthropic goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports the Hope for Life strategic plan through a comprehensive integrated philanthropy plan to include annual giving, capital, planned giving and programmatic support.
  • Serves as the staff lead for the Foundation and Foundation Board, to ensure the legacy of the Middle Tennessee YMCA through a healthy endowment.
  • Remains abreast of legal and technical developments in the areas of estate planning and charitable gifts.
  • Leads a strong Philanthropy Team to strategically cultivate and solicit gifts to benefit Association programs and services included in the Hope for Life strategic plan.
  • Works closely with Center Directors, members of the Philanthropy Team and key volunteers to develop and implement an integrated philanthropy plan.
  • Provides leadership and training for the development of Association staff and volunteers in "best practices" and effective fundraising strategies.
  • Ensures implementation of "Relationship Management" program Association-wide to build strategies to move donors to higher giving levels.
  • Works with CEO and Center Execs to identify, cultivate and solicit portfolio of major gift prospects.
  • Attends and actively participates in all Association, Foundation, and Executive Committee meetings.
  • Coordinates major gift requests as needed with Association and Foundation Boards.
  • Oversees Sponsored Programs team in efforts to secure grant support for the YMCA of Middle Tennessee.
  • Serves as Y-USA Training Partner.

SENIOR TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves, supports, shares, challenges, plans, is "a visionary" as a Senior Team member; serves as a partner in meeting the strategic goals of the organization's Hope for Life vision; supports all of the organizational goals set by the strategic vision and provides leadership and support for the implementation of tactics required to fulfill strategic objectives.
  • Ensures outstanding customer/member service and compliance with Association Standards.
  • Models and puts into practice behavior that supports inclusion and diversity.
  • Represents the YMCA and maintains appropriate relationships with area organizations, community leaders, and businesses.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Four year college degree with at least five years of successful financial development experience.
  • Minimum five years experience leading/managing a staff team preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in successful six/seven figure gift requests preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with key volunteers and boards preferred.
  • Prior experience and knowledge about the YMCA, either as an employee, a member, a donor or a volunteer, is desirable.

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000
