Job Description:

The West Hartford/Tri-Town YMCA is looking for a Program Director to develop and manage the

School Age (Before and After School Care), Youth Sports, Aquatics and Summer Camp programs. The Program Director will assure that the programs are responsive to member and community needs and ensure premier program quality and innovation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Position requires incumbent to provide 25% of his/her week in direct services (in ratio).
  • Recruit, train, supervise and develop staff members and volunteers to conduct program and services. Monitor (weekly) and evaluate (semi-annually) performance.
  • Fiscally responsible for developing, monitoring and reporting on departmental budget monthly.
  • Development and implementation of programs; prepare detail cost-benefit analysis and projections of programs, monitor financial indicators and member feedback to assess program effectiveness.
  • Identify collaborative efforts to utilize facilities and services with local schools and organizations.
  • Knowledge of State of Connecticut Department of Public Health regulations regarding the licensing of a child care center.
  • Stay current with professional standards and trends in school age child care.
  • Maintain and/or pursue all certifications required to hold State of Connecticut DPH Site Director certification.
  • Promote and market seasonal programs using traditional methods (example, newsletters, print, web, schools local fairs).
  • Plan and promote seasonal events at each School Aged Site (3 per school calendar year per site).
  • Cultivate relationships with parents and program participants to develop quality programs that are consistent with the mission and values.
  • Participate in Branch annual activities, including but not limited to Annual Campaign activities, Halloween at the Y, Healthy Kids Day, Santa Event, and Family Fun Day/Nights as scheduled.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience in developing and implementing a variety of youth and adult programs preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in the use of Windows-based programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.
  • Connecticut Head Teacher Certification or eligibility preferred.
  • Possess a general knowledge and understanding of the YMCA, its goals, and its mission.
  • Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and a sincere interest in working with children.
  • Have very strong interpersonal and organization skills.

Salary: $32,000 - $37,000
