Aquatics Director Vacancy Announcement: Montebello-Commerce YMCA

Do you get satisfaction watching the expression of confidence and self-esteem on a child's face when they learn to swim? As an Aquatics Director for the Montebello-Commerce YMCA, no two days will ever be the same! You'll interact with all age groups (babies through seniors) involved in YMCA aquatic programs.Each day you will be busy working with members and YMCA staff to provide quality program experiences. As program leader, you'll supervise and provide training to an aquatics staff responsible for a wide range of aquatic activities and swim lessons. It's important that our staff stay current in aquatics and best practices, as well as, having opportunities for career growth.Depending on the day and time, your hands on experiences will vary from interacting with members in the pool, to attending meetings with program volunteers and staff, leading the Annual Support Campaign volunteers, or preparing for the next day's programs. Opportunities abound to educate and creatively work together with the YMCA team and community members. The successful candidate will possess the following:

Preparation and monitoring with fiscal management, administration, program development and growth, training and leadership of all Aquatic Programs. Responsible for the safety of members in the pool and pool area by enforcing policies and procedures courteously and professionally. Keep certifications current and follow emergency procedures when necessary. Develop volunteers to carry out the mission and values of the YMCA, through committees and our Annual Support Campaign.

  • Knowledge of water hazards, pool safety, pool and chemical maintenance, lifesaving techniques and first aid, and appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
Responsible for the overall quality of the Aquatics programs and services, assuring that all staff interacts with members and the public in a professional and courteous manner via all forms of communication. Ability to set an excellent example of healthy living, customer service, and community involvement.
  • Proficiency in developing and leading a team of staff and volunteers
  • Ability to build relationships with community groups in an effort to develop and grow collaborations.
A friendly, enthusiastic and conscientious leader with excellent knowledge and skills in the areas of aquatics.
  • Passion for high standards and believes in the YMCA focus For Youth Development, For Healthy Living and For Social Responsibility.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the field of aquatics, and/or certifications is required.
  • YMCA Experience Preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in aquatics field with at least two (2) year of supervision experience.

Superb written and oral communication skills Valid CPR, AED, and First Aid certification American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training Authorized American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Instructor Certification. Hours : This position is Exempt - Full-time

Salary:
