The YMCA of South Hampton Roads is recognized as a cutting edge leader in the membership arena. The association serves the communities of Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Franklin, Virginia Beach, the Eastern Shore of Virginia, as well as the Outer Banks, Barco and Elizabeth City in North Carolina. We are the 9th largest membership YMCA in the United States with 40,000 membership units and 110,000 members. Our facilities consist of 15 Family Centers, 2 satellite fitness centers, 1 community outreach office, 2 regional day camps, 1 resident camp, 5 junior golf course programs, 2 mobile learning centers and 50 child care and program sites.

The YMCA of South Hampton Roads is seeking an energetic, proven, hands-on professional to provide Cause- Driven leadership and management to the Membership Services Department of the Great Bridge Hickory Family YMCA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Senior Membership Director will oversee all aspects of membership for the Family Center including recruitment of new members, retention of existing members and supervision of assigned staff.
  • Develop, plan and implement new procedures and methods within Association guidelines to achieve strategic goals.
  • Assist the District Vice President, Program, and Fitness Directors in development of member centered programs and provides leadership role as assigned to the We Build People annual fundraising Campaign.
We are seeking a self-motivated, highly organized individual that meets the requirements of this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred which would include five or more years experience in managing exempt personnel or equivalency preferred
  • Supervision of a 3,000+ membership unit YMCA or equivalency preferred
  • Supervision of budget exceeding $1M
  • Demonstrated track record of generating leads and closing sales
  • Strategically planning and tactical execution experience that resulted in achievement of goals
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

An offer of employment is contingent upon receipt of satisfactory results to meet minimum requirements for the position. They may include a background check, drug test, driver's license record, CPS, and/or Criminal Background check.

Salary: $43,500 - $48,000
