YOUTH & TEEN DIRECTOR YMCA: Central Branch YMCA Location: Youngstown, OH Job Description: The YMCA of Youngstown is looking for a motivated, self-starter to join the team of professionals for a re-launched position of Youth & Teen Director at the downtown Central YMCA. This position is responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing high quality, broad spectrum and member-focused YMCA youth and teen development programs including:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Serves as a member of the YMCA Leadership Team and directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of Y members and the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. 2. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. 3. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 4. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. 5. Monitors daily operations to adhere to all YMCA health and safety standards and policies. 6. Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events. Creates and schedules youth and teen programs. 7. Assists in the marketing and distribution of YMCA branded program information. 8. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. 9. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events. 10. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. 11. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program through outcome based measurements. 12. Maintains equipment and facilities. Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required. Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs. Holds staff accountable for high-quality results using a formal process to measure progress. Personal Growth: Shares new insights. Facilitates change; models adaptability and an awareness of the impact of change. Utilizes non-threatening methods to address sensitive issues and inappropriate behavior or performance. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Youth Ministry, Education or related field . 2. One to two years related experience preferred. 3. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: New Staff Orientation, Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff, CPR & O2 Administration; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens, Listen First 4. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications. 5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
