Location: Springfield, MA Job Description: The responsibilites of the VP of Education & Government Relations include, but are not limited to: - Develop and maintain key relationships between the YMCA of Greater Springfield and the community (public and private corporations)
- Create partnerships with government and private sector for programming capital
- Have a clear understanding of EEC & DPH regulations and licensing procedures for all programs, and maintain programs to meet or exceed EEC and or DPH standards.
- Facilitate Education Advisory Board and Association Education committee meetings on a regular/consistent basis
- Facilitate tours of YMCA of Greater Springfield operations to prospective donors and partners
- Provide opportunities for the Civic and Community Leaders to participate in hosted activates, events and programs
- Educate the community and community leaders on the YMCA of Greater Springfield mission, philosophy and purpose
- Educate partners on YMCA resources
- Working collectively with the VP of Development & Communications to ensure continual exposure of the YMCA vision to the media
- Operate department budget to sustain, build and add capacity to ensure financial stability and overall community impact
- Provide direct supervision to Hampden Affordable Housing at Liberty Crossings Executive Director
- Attend and actively participate in each HAH board meeting and appropriate committee meeting
Knowledge - Bachelors degree in Education, Business Management, Organizational Leadership, or other related field
- 7-10 years at the executive director level
- 5+ years managing others, including leaders
- Demonstrated knowledge of EEC and NAEYC licensing

- Demonstrated ability to develop and leverage relationships with government officials and representatives at the local, regional,and national levels
- Proven track records in: creating leads, community outreach, creative follow up, relationship building, overcoming objections, and follow-up
- Computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheet management, presentation, and reporting software
- Strong critical thinking skills and a discerning sense of judgement
- Must have a working knowledge of state and federal funding programs and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to development leaders and staff members
Habits - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, and facilitation)
- Strong influencing ability, combined with a balance of analytical and pragmatic approach
- Must be capable of working under pressure in a somewhat disruptive environment, while remaining professional and exhibiting an upbeat attitude
- Must be able to multi-task and work under time constraints
- Must have attention to detail
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 Additional Compensation Details: - Y Retirement
