Job Description:

The YMCA of Greater New York seeks a dynamic professional to become the Y Roads Center's Training and Partnership Coordinator, to work in a unique and original service center in Jamaica, Queens. The Training and Partnership Coordinator will be responsible for designing and leading trainings and workshops related to workforce development and academic skills, as well as working to make connections with outside agencies to provide services, referrals and supports to participants. They will also be part of the team in assessing the needs of the young people in the program to then lead and develop workshops to support those students and the Jamaica community. Through the Y Roads Center's programs and services, the YMCA of Greater New York commits to working with young people, ages 16 to 24, in priority populations, who identify as having a particularly difficult time making the successful transition to adulthood.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead and/or organize trainings, workshops and other learning experiences that help prepare Y participants for workforce and educational experiences, as part of their individual work plan. Develop relationships with community agencies that provide services or trainings, and with prospective employers and obtain commitments to hire program graduates.
  • Assist in recruitment, service plan development and referral of participants including orientation, testing and assessment of prospective and current participants.
  • Monitor and track employment placements and progress. Maintain contact with participants for 12 months, post program completion.
  • Monitor internship/job placement progress and performance. Work with participants and sites to make changes when required.
  • Contact other training institutions on a regular basis and network with their job developers.
  • Seek job shadow, interning and volunteer opportunities for graduates as a step to employment.
  • Coordinate with the recruiters from several organizations and note down the jobs available with them and the kind of candidate they are seeking.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters level degree preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in training and leading educational workshops.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in direct youth work.
  • Some experience working with students, families and/or community, especially those who are low income and/or engaged with government systems (probations, juvenile justice, education, or foster care).
  • An understanding or workforce development and job skills training is needed.
  • Familiarity with variety of professions, their responsibilities and the required qualifications.
  • Updated knowledge about job openings in all sectors and ability to access all sources providing information about job openings.
  • Knowledge in human resource management and recruitment procedures.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or Saturdays in support of program activities and meetings.
  • Familiarity with the Jamaica, Queens community and its demographics.

Salary: $40,163 - $50,203
