Job Description:

The YMCA of Greater New York reaches half a million New Yorkers through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We will be opening a new branch at Rockaways Beach Boulevard and Beach 73rd Street in Arverne, Queens and are seeking an experienced leader to join our team as the Executive Director. The Rockaways YMCA will include a family aquatic center, a dividable gymnasium, cardiovascular and strength training spaces, all purpose areas for youth and community programs, a child watch area and family prime time space. The Executive Director would manage our 45,000 square foot mixed use facility and ensure the delivery of quality services to approximately 3,000 membership units including 10,000 youth and 8,000 adults.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Executive Director would manage the overall operation of the Rockaway's YMCA including, 150 employees and a budget of $5 million.
  • S/he would initiate and maintain strong relationships with local government officials, neighborhood leaders and donors. In addition, the Executive Director is expected to collaborate with other community youth organizations to deliver a full range of youth and teen programs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualified applicants must have experience working with a Board of Managers, supervising government contracts, managing fund raising campaigns, strategic planning, program management, staff leadership/development and a proven record of successful fiscal management.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree plus 10-15 years of successful operational and management experience.
  • Proven success record in fund raising.
  • Budget management experience required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and others in a fast paced environment.
