Job Description:

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understand, articulate, demonstrate and promote the mission of the YMCA at all times
  • Communicate our image using the Y's Voice; Genuine, Nurturing, Hopeful, Welcoming, and Determined
  • Demonstrated skill in communication, decision making, resource management, and leadership
  • Excellent communication skills, utilizing both verbal and electronic communications
  • Experience developing and managing a sound budget
  • Innovative program development skills with a focus on meeting community needs and demand
  • Demonstrated ability to think and lead strategically

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years proven experience working with children with two in a supervisory capacity

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, markets and manages innovative family program offerings. Leads day to day operations of assigned departments and all programs.
  • Hires, supervises and evaluates staff. Develops an effective and mission-driven team focused on youth development.
  • Prepares and administers annual operating budget.
  • Assumes ownership of all family programming and day camps, utilizing first-hand observations to ensure safety, organization, cleanliness and image.
  • Evaluates and monitors program quality and impact. Monitors program delivery through regular observations.
  • Actively seeks out and engages in community/organization collaborations.
  • Develops, maintains and strengthens relationships with parents, staff and key community agencies.
  • Establishes and maintains good communications with parents, staff and branch leadership team.
  • Monitors weekly camp food purchasing to assure meals/snacks meet or exceed guidelines established by YMCA Healthy Actions Team. Incorporates daily physical activity component in every program plan when applicable.
  • Cross promotes membership and family programming.
  • Spreads awareness of Annual Giving Campaign efforts and supports volunteers in their fundraising efforts.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a budget of $550,000 per year
  • Supervision of 60 staff (45 seasonal)
  • Maintain all records related to the camp certifications and general operations

  • High-quality programming in a healthy and safe environment.
  • Educational and social stimulation appropriate to the age and development of the children being served.
  • Active parent participation.
  • Nurturing environment that parents want and all children deserve.
  • Inviting surroundings with an abundance of appropriate resources.
  • Fiscally sound programs which meet targeted enrollment and established budget guidelines.

Salary: $35,000 - $35,000
