Job Description:

Under the direction of the President/CEO, the Sr. Vice President/COO is responsible for the successful operation of the branches of the Association. To ensure the Association attains its strategic goals and operational impact, the Sr. Vice President/COO is responsible for branch operations, including managing all Executive Directors, to ensure superior member service, program development and administration, volunteer recruitment and development, community relations, collaborations, budgeting, facilities, and staff development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively supervise the Executive Directors in our Association to ensure their objectives are clear, feedback is constant, and evaluation is direct.
  • Coordinate professional development plans for direct reports and assure progress in partnership with Human Resources and staff development professionals.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
  • Coordinate the volunteer process of the Association at the Branch and Corporate Committee levels to assure proper identification, recruitment, deployment, cultivation, training and recognition of key individuals who can lead our organization toward the achievement of its goals and objectives.
  • Support the fundraising initiatives of the Association in annual, capital and endowed giving programs through participating, encouraging, supervising and role modeling so that objectives are realized.
  • Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, collaborations, and mergers and acquisitions.
  • Move toward a vision of improved member service and member-focused programs.
  • Identifies potential areas for branch cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs.
  • Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs and leads branch staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
  • Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
  • Provides reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the President/CEO.
  • Assure that facilities are maintained to high standards and presented in a manner that encourages confidence in the organization, satisfaction by members, and an enhanced image with visitors and the public.

Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in human services, business, social services or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years' experience in YMCA operations or another organization to include multi-branch operations, financial management, financial development, member services, human resources, property management/ development and program development and delivery.
  • Certification as a YMCA Organizational Leader.
  • Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community; track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others.

Salary: $120,000 - $140,000
