JOB DESCRIPTION: - The Aquatics Director is responsible for all aspects of administration for aquatic programming. This includes all programming associated with two indoor pools, whirlpool, steam & sauna, as well as all aquatic operations at our Burlington, CT Camp Chase outdoor family center. Lead a team of 1 FT employee and over 50 part time staff, as well as seasonal summer employees. Responsible for program development and management, budget development and fiscal responsibility, as well as be an integral team player for our overall branch operations.
- The Aquatics director is responsible for ensuring all pool and water safety guidelines are in place and enforced. Will provide a combined minimum of 5 weekly hours of swim lesson instruction and lifeguarding. Will actively learn names and engage in relationship building with members, swim team parents and participants on a daily basis.
- The Aquatics Director will strive to put a caring adult in the life of every child, be a good steward of the resources entrusted to us, and work in partnership with others to eliminate disparities in health & education. The Aquatics Director will be a cause-driven leader and champion the YMCA mission and initiatives.
- Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Hartford is conveyed.

Program management responsibilities include: - Oversee the administration of a year round competitive swim program
- All aquatic group and private lesson programming
- Marketing of aquatic programming
- Budgetary development and management
- Administration of Lifeguard and CPR/FA Certification courses
- Management of 2 indoor pools, whirlpool, steam, sauna, 1 outdoor pool, and splash pad.
- Staff hiring, training, and supervision of all swim instructors, lifeguards, and coaches.
- Ensure all state health regulations are followed with required documentation.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience teaching swimming lessons, lifeguarding, or related experience.
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Oxygen Administration (or recertify. within first 90 days).
- Basic First Aid certification.
- Strong computer skills with MS office and basic webpage development.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Employment is subject to a background check. Salary: $42,000 - $44,000 Additional Compensation Details: The YMCA of Greater Hartford offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 12% employer funded retirement upon meeting eligibility requirements.
