JOB DESCRIPTION:

The YMCA of Greater Hartford is looking for a Member Services Director at its Farmington Valley branch. The Member Services Director will develop and implement the overall strategy for delivering programs and services that are responsive to member and participant needs. Provide a cohesive approach to marketing and promoting YMCA programs and services and for the collection and analysis of member preferences. Directly impacting membership commitment and growth. Develop and implement training programs that build a work culture that is responsive to member issues and needs

Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greater Hartford is conveyed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field with at least five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supervising employees required.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required (Spanish/English).
  • Direct experience in marketing preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational and management skills required.
  • Ability to work well with volunteers, employees, and members required.
  • High professionalism; enthusiasm, and drive.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the activities and personnel of the member services staff. Ensure effective and member oriented work process; provide direction and training to staff. Ensure effective communication of program and service information to member services staff.
  • Ensures that all Member Relations staff enthusiastically greets and engage every member and guest in a friendly, helpful way at every opportunity. Holds staff accountable for executing member service standards.
  • Ensures that the Y's systems support member engagement, connections, relationship building, and member programs and services.
  • Develop a culture that is responsive to member needs and issues and encourages participation in YMCA services, programs, and membership opportunities.
  • Consistently provide friendly, courteous assistance exceeding customer expectations every day, which includes building and maintaining healthy professional relationships with customers, staff, and host agencies.
  • Coordinate and implement the marketing plan for programs and services to attain membership growth and ensure premier quality and innovation.
  • Identify potential markets and trends, gather member preference data, and initiate program and service options to capture a market opportunity.
  • Position requires incumbent to provide a percentage of his/her week in direct services (i.e. floor time).
  • Participate as a member of the management team responsible for the overall operation of the branch.
  • Develop, implement, manage and control all membership promotions. Monitor membership issues and resolve any complex problems.
  • Organize and prepare any promotional material and ensure consistency with marketing strategy. Including but not limited to newsletters, website, and facebook page.
  • Maintain effective membership information. Analyze trends and recommend marketing strategies.
  • Participate in the Annual Support Campaign and other development activities as appropriate.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports and contributes to a safe, clean environment for staff and customers.
  • Participate in branch and Metropolitan committees as assigned.
  • Coordinate facility tours.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of regular member special events.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Salary: $42,000 - $44,000
