AQUATICS DIRECTOR
YMCA: Louis T. Fogelman Branch YMCA
Location: Memphis, TN
Job Description:
Seeking a cause-driven leader committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Position is responsible for all aquatics operations including but not limited to staff supervision, program quality, pool maintenance, and overall safety. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills along with working knowledge of basic computer software. Exercises mature judgment and sound decision-making with the ability to motivate others to achieve YMCA operational and impact goals. Essential Functions:
- Develops and operates quality and safe aquatics programs.
- Recruits, hires, trains, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Schedules and operates all lessons, classes, events, and youth recreational and masters swim teams.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA healthy and safety regulations. Monitors and maintains all pool equipment condition and ensures repairs are made as needed.
- Manages the safety and sanitation of the pool area. Oversees daily pool chemistry readings and takes appropriate measures to keep the pool water balanced. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and equipment maintenance.
- Conducts monthly staff meetings and in-service training for lifeguards and instructors.
- Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR certification courses as needed.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Develops and monitors budgets to meet fiscal objectives.
- Manages program set up in YMCA program database.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Performs all assigned duties of Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, and Water Aerobics Instructors, as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- At least two years related experience.
- Completion (or in progress) of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications including: Advance First Aid and CPR Instructor, Water Aerobics Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor, and Swim Instructor, YUSA Team Leader certification
Physical Demands:
Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
Salary: $32,000 - $36,000
