SPORTS PROGRAM DIRECTOR
YMCA: YMCA of Greater San Antonio
Location: San Antonio, TX
Job Description:
Work with the Senior Sports Director to manage a highly successful YMCA Sports Department that serves over 9,000 children a year in youth sports. Must have experience and/or knowledge in Football, Baseball and Basketball. Be able to effectively communicate with 300 plus volunteers per season and supervise 20 plus part-time staff.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for managing all day to day operations of the sports programs including concessions.
- Prior to a season, secure locations for games, meetings, and events.
- Develop and implement complete annual department budget on a yearly basis with the involvement of program committees.
- Achieve retention goals, as well as growth goals for income and participation.
- Recruiting, training, supervision of all staff and volunteers needed to operate programs.
- Responsible for the weekly staffing of site managers and weekend referees, and for creating the season schedule.
- Assist as need with branch operations, meetings and special events.
- Attend appropriate and needed training offered by the YMCA of Greater San Antonio.
- The Sports Director must also be present to all training that concerns the sports department (Parent Orientation, Coaches Trainings, No Coach meetings, Sport Cabinet meetings etc).
- Maintain safe and clean program areas, including indoor and outdoor areas, YMCA and non-YMCA facilities and equipment, and help to monitor all maintenance crews.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred degree and requires a minimum of two years experience in directing sports programs.
- Preference for incumbent with training and certifications in youth sports and YMCA sports programs.
- A minimum of at least two years supervisory is required.
- Must have 1st Aid, CPR, AED, and BBP certifications or acquire within 60 days of hire. Employee must be able to drive, with class "C" driver license and valid insurance.
- Incumbent must be physically able to participate in year-round youth sports including basketball, baseball, soccer, football, and volleyball.
Salary: $32,650 - $40,000
Additional Compensation Details:
Medical, dental, vision, life insurance after the 1st of the month following start date; Vacation, holiday, sick pay after 90 days; and Retirement after 2 years of employment
