SENIOR AQUATICS DIRECTOR
YMCA: Providence Metropolitan YMCA

Job Description:
The Bayside YMCA Branch is opening a New Premier Aquatic Facility! They are currently accepting resumes for a Senior Aquatic Director. The Senior Aquatic Director is responsible for creating and maintaining happy, satisfied members. The director will ensures all facets of the Bayside YMCA aquatic center (2 indoor pools and 1 outdoor pool) and its programs meet the needs of families and health seekers in the East Bay community. This position will oversee the development, administration, operations, risk management & safety, scheduling and supervision of, but not limited to, swim lessons, water fitness classes, swim team, lap & recreational swimming, and safety & risk management. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Include, but not limited to)
- Constantly assess the 'pulse of members'
- On aregular basis, engage in conversation with established members and non-members about their YMCA experience.
- Establish metrics with the help of the Operations Director for assessment of programming and assure the collection, monitoring and analysis of the data.
- Ensure risk management and safety policies are in place and implemented for all aquatic programming including equipment safety checks, emergency drills and in-service trainings.
- Maintain all necessary reports and statistical data as required for program management.
- Plan, develop and schedule mission-driven program offerings, within the framework of policies and procedures established by the Association.
- Ensure that the branch adheres to program quality standards.
- Internally communicate, in conjunction with marketing, to members and participants regarding programs and services offered.
- Develop staff through training and development plans and provide recognition.
- Maintain current memberships, cultivating positive public relations by listening and responding to member needs.
- Encourage memberships for program participants who are not currently members.
- Work to ensure a risk-free environment, i.e. caution regarding unsafe practices and conditions. Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports.
- Responsible for regular inspection of all mechanical equipment, program equipment and supplies - follow up with maintenance should repairs be needed.
- Work in collaboration with others to extend the YMCA into the community, researching opportunities and funding sources.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen Administration
- Listen First, Child Abuse Prevention
- Lifeguard Certification, Lifeguard Instructor (YMCA certification preferable)
- Swim Lesson Instructor, Swim Lesson Trainer, Certified Pool Operator
- YMCA Multi Team Leader preferable
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Health, Physical Education, Exercise Science or related field
- Five to eight years of management experience in Aquatic related field. (Y management experience preferable.)
- Prior Y experience and familiarity, training in Listen First and Supporting Change and Building Communities would be preferable.
- Outstanding communications skills and analytical planning abilities are necessary in this position.
Salary: $38,787 - $48,484
