GROUP FITNESS COORDINATOR

YMCA: YMCA of Mankato

Location: Mankato, MN

Job Description:

The Group Fitness Coordinator under the direction of the Wellness Director is responsible for the administration of the group fitness classes. This position would supervise and train staff in a variety of class types and manage a large class schedule and multi studio spaces. The Mankato YMCA offers an average of 60 free group exercise classes per week.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and direct the development, promotion, implementation and evaluation for the following:
• Land Aerobic classes-including body pump and silver sneakers
• Water aerobic classes
• Cycling classes
• Supervise all related department staff members, including hiring, training and evaluation.
• Develop, implement and maintain procedures, policies and activities that ensure the safety of participants and staff and cleanliness of all related department program and office areas.
• Assist with the development and management of the department budget
• Maintain open and frequent communication with participants and staff.
• This position will have some mornings, evenings and occasional weekend hours
• Teach at least 5 hours / week and sub when needed.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in Exercise Science, Sports Management or related field preferred
• Two or more years of group fitness instruction experience
• Ability to teach a variety of group fitness classes.
• Current Group fitness certification from a national organization: AFAA, NETA, ACSM
• Prior experience in supervision, program development and implementation
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Friendly and outgoing personality

Salary: $30,000 - $33,000
