YOUTH DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR - PROGRAM INNOVATION

Job Description:
The Youth Development Director - Program Innovation will design curriculum that offers a variety of activities throughout each day, and choice during several time blocks, which supports the development of each child in Healthy Living, Social Responsibility, and Youth Development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The incumbent will work with YMCA Center Directors and other community agencies to significantly grow new enrichment course offerings to program participants.
- It will be the responsibility of the incumbent to research curriculum standards for county schools and state education and to align YMCA Afterschool lessons to support and enrich the work of the county schools.
- This position will directly supervise the Enrichment Program, Youth Fit for Life program, Tutors, Youth Group Exercise Instructors, lesson plan creation and implementation, and lead all new initiatives within the Child Care Services YMCA (CCS) under the guidance of the Executive Youth Development Director.
- Additionally, the incumbent will actively recruit, train, engage and track the work of volunteers in CCS programs, and act as a mentor and resource for site staff.
- To ensure the continued success of Y programming, the Youth Development Director - Program Innovation will lead CCS in the research, development and application of the Y-USA grants and private grant opportunities as well as participate in a leadership capacity with the YMCA annual campaign.
- The applicant will be responsible for developing collaboration meetings and events with other agencies in the area.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Youth Development Director - Program Innovation must be 21 years of age or older.
- A Bachelor's Degree or higher and/or relevant experience is required.
- Continuing education in state-approved education coursework by NC Division of Child Development is highly preferred.
- Applicants must be certified or able and willing to acquire within 90 days of hire certification in all related safety certifications (CPR/AED, First Aid), Driver certification, and related educational classwork as required by state licensing.
- Knowledge in the following areas is desired: grant writing, curriculum development, NC Education standards, Dept. of Child Care licensing, Y-USA curriculum and training standards.
- Applicants must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Incumbents must be able to communicate effectively and resolve staff conflicts.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, are required.
Salary: $33,000 - $35,000
