CHILD CARE DIRECTOR

YMCA: Palm Beaches Metropolitan YMCA

Location: West Palm Beach, FL

Job Description:

The YMCA of the Palm Beaches is seeking a motivated, team-oriented professional to provide leadership and direct supervision our Child Care programs. The Child Care Director is responsible for the development, administration and success of all the Child Care programs; including promotion, implementation and evaluation; administration of staff hiring, training, supervision and evaluating performance; overseeing implementation and quality control of curriculum and activities as they relate to the philosophy of the YMCA; and management of the budget in adherence with the Branch and Association goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations: Manage and direct day-to-day operations and general management

Staff Development: Recruit, hire, train, supervise, motivate and evaluate staff to assure effective and efficient performance. Participate in workshops and conferences that will enhance professional growth

Fiscal Management: Develop and oversee operating budget according to Association guidelines with expansion in the community

Program Management: Administer and evaluate Child Care curriculum working to improve quality and consistency of care

Relationship Building: Develops and maintains cooperative and supportive relationships with parents, staff, volunteers and other agencies through written and oral communication, while upholding confidentiality

Compliance: Maintain licensing and accreditation standards including subsidized agencies

Facility Management: Supervise maintenance and cleanliness of center ensuring safety and wellbeing

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with a minimum of five years working experience with young children and two years in a related programming/management role.
• Current Director's Credential
• Proven experience in child care management issues and classroom management strategies
• Knowledge of early childhood development and education and licensing requirements
• Experience in human resources development, particularly hiring, training, motivating, supervising and evaluating staff
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage and involve staff, parents, and volunteers
• Exemplies the YMCA values and understands the YMCA mission
• Proficient computer skills including MS Office
