Job Description and Required Certifications: In partnership with the Vice President of Youth and Camping Services and the camp management team, the Camp Director ensures the successful growth and retention of Summer Campers and Retreats and Conferences at YMCA Camp Eberhart. The Camp Director will provide leadership to program staff, summer staff, volunteer recruitment, community relations, collaborations, budgeting, fundraising and financial results. The Camp Director will be joining an outstanding leadership team at a historic and successful proficiency based camp focused on excellent customer service for campers, parents, and guests. In partnership with the Vice President of Youth and Camping Services, the Camp Director will work to fill summer camp with waitlists for each week, and prepare a vision for camp in the future. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a related field or business administration. 2. Ability to demonstrate excellent program management skills 3. Personal values consistent with those of the YMCA. 4. Ability to develop, strengthen relationships and run camp programs for the YMCA of Michiana, Inc. 5. Mental and physical ability to deal with high stress situations and work well under pressure. 6. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical abilities to act swiftly in an emergency situation. 7. Knowledge of/practical experience in: cabin leadership, camper psychology, peer leadership and supervision; staff management & motivation. 8. First Aid and CPR Certifications preferred. 9. Strong communication skills, positive attitude, initiative, flexibility, dependability, and creativity.   EXPERIENCE: 1. 3-5 years of camping experience, preferably in YMCA camping, with demonstrated growth specifically in summer camp and with experience in off summer season growth. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Implements strategies that support recruitment of new campers and groups and retention of existing campers and groups. Creates a camper-focused culture and models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure camper satisfaction. 2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed for Resident Camp, Day Camp, Outdoor Education and Weekend programs. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 3. Oversees the planning of the annual budget ($1.6M revenue); manages and implements the approved budget and takes appropriate action to correct variances 4. Works closely with the Vice President to develop the strategic plan and vision for camp. 5. Leads assigned aspects of the Camp Eberhart fund-raising campaign. 6. Maintains a fun, educational, healthy, and safe resident camp facility that provides opportunities for all to develop a healthy lifestyle. 7. Creates an environment where the core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are followed by all staff. 8. Maintains American Camp Association accreditation as needed. 9. Works closely with YMCA Youth Strategy team to provide the best youth development programs possible. 10. Praises staff frequently with specific examples of their actions and words. 11. Prepares reports as needed for Camp Advisory Committees, Youth Development Committee, and Corporate Board of Directors. 12. Develops an annual marketing plan for summer camp and off season groups. 13. Stays informed of staff choices, especially involving discipline, to ensure that campers receive fair and appropriate treatment. 14. Demonstrates professional role modeling at all times.

Salary Information: ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $45,000 to $52,000 per year BENEFITS: Health, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, 9% YMCA Retirement Plan Contribution (when eligible); on-site housing provided (required)
