Camp Description: Since 1948, YMCA Camp Roger has introduced thousands of children and teens to Utahs amazing mountain landscape while engaging them in wilderness exploration and adventures, environmental stewardship, and leadership development. Located an hour north east of Salt Lake City, Utah and 30 minutes from the beautiful ski resort town of Park City, Utah; YMCA Camp Roger is nestled in the Wasatch National Forest in the beautiful Soapstone Basin at an elevation of 7800 ft. Last summer, the YMCA welcomed over 900 campers to Camp Roger and Heber Day Camp. Programs run weekly throughout the summer and each week culminates with an awards ceremony and family celebration at both locations. Activities all through the week teach youth to live in a community, build self-esteem, and make lasting friendships. Program offerings include but are not limited to archery, arts and crafts, orienteering, mountain biking and a progressive horse program.

Job Description and Required Certifications: We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our rapidly growing association to help take our summer camp programs to the next level. Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Camp Director is responsible for taking the initiative to develop and grow camp programs in Wasatch County through innovative and forward thinking approaches. The Camp Director will be responsible for living on-site during the summer and overseeing daily management and leadership of all Wasatch camp programs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to staff recruitment, training, development and evaluation, program development implementation, promotion and evaluation, and financial management to meet and/or exceed revenue and enrollment goals for all Wasatch camp programs. Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, income production, expense control, public relations, promotion, public speaking, communication skills, fund-raising, and record-keeping. The Camp Director will also work closely with the Regional Director, and related staff, in participant retention and to ensure the organization is providing timely, efficient and consistent service. This position is key in communicating the YMCA Mission and Goals to the participants, staff, and community. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Education, Recreation Management, Child/Youth Development, Environmental Studies or related is required. Experience with the YMCA or a similar agency preferred. Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to demonstrate flexibility in a rapidly changing, fast-paced and often ambiguous work environment. Position requires broad knowledge and experience in the field of camping. Applicant must have programming skills, as well as experience in a residential camp setting. Knowledge of the American Camping Association (ACA) guidelines preferred. Experience in the supervision and training of volunteer and staff, fiscal management and program development is essential. An understanding of group work and team-building is also important. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and commitment to promoting programs and a proven track record of annual growth in revenue, enrollment and retention. Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. Housing is provided during the summer months.
Salary Information: $30,000-$40,000
