Camp Description: Flat Rock River Camp is a supportive community that features many programs to meet the diverse (ages 7-16)needs of our campers. Programs include, but are not limited to Main Camp, Ranch Camp, Challengers and Teen Leadership/Counselor-in-Training. Campers will enjoy swimming, rock climbing, fishing, arts/crafts, sports, archery, canoeing, drama and much more!

Job Description and Required Certifications: Description Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Ruth Lilly YMCA Outdoor Center, the Program Director will be responsible for living on-site and overseeing the daily management and leadership of all Resident Camp Programs. The Program Director will be accountable for the development and administration of the departments, program development and promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision, and financial operation in accordance with Branch and Association goals, objectives and policies. The Program Director must understand their role in helping build relationships and a small community atmosphere among our members. Minimum Requirements This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Recreation, Elementary Education, Environmental Studies or related field, or its equivalent in work experience, and 2-4 years previous experience with the YMCA or a similar agency is vital to the success in this position. Position requires broad knowledge and experience in the field of camping. Applicant must have basic programming skills with special emphasis on youth and family activities, as well as, experience in a residential camp setting. The ability to relate to all age groups is essential. Knowledge of the American Camping Association (ACA) guidelines preferred. Experience in the supervision and training of volunteer and paid staff, fiscal management and program development is essential. An understanding of group work and team-building is also important. The need exists to be current with community trends. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and commitment to promoting programs and growing the number of youth served. Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, income production, expense control, public relations, promotion, public speaking, communication skills, fund-raising, grant writing and record-keeping. Overnight Camps & Family Programs. Housing is provided.

Salary Information: $32,932 - $41,165 / Annual
