Job Description and Required Certifications: Please Note: This is a full-time exempt position (5 months in Fremont, MI and 7 months in Evanston. IL) The Camp Echo Manager, Teen and Outreach is responsible for the continuity and quality of Camp Echos Adventure Trip Programs, On-Site Teen Programs, Teen Leadership Development (LIT/CIT), and non-Summer programming, continuously evaluating and improving programs to ensure offerings are innovative, provide strong progression of skills, and align with the YMCAs areas of focus: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. The Teen & Outreach Manager recruits, hires, trains, and directly supervises seasonal Adventure Trip Guides, an On-Site Teen Director, and CIT/LIT Coordinators. During the summer, they also oversee Camp Echos experiential learning program, including the high adventure challenge course. From September to April, the Teen & Outreach Manager continues to expand the offerings of teen leadership programs and weekend adventure trips/outings, based out of the McGaw YMCA, facilitating a Camp Echo Teen Program Council to engage teens in the development of programs that meet community needs; collaborate with other youth-serving departments at the McGaw YMCA to engage more children in the outdoors; and work with schools, Evanston-based youth serving agencies, and local public agencies to bring more leadership development, service, and adventure to the Evanston community throughout the year. Throughout the year, the Teen & Outreach Manager must be able to focus on current needs while planning several months in advance and constantly updating applicable ACA (American Camping Association) accreditation materials. The Teen & Outreach Manager is expected to live on-site at Camp Echo in Fremont, MI May September and work out of the McGaw YMCA in Evanston, IL October April. Room and board is provided during the summer months at Camp Echo. Days/Hours: 40 hours a week, days vary (on-call 24/7 when programs are in session) Experience/Education/Certification Requirements: Age 21 or older [Michigan Camp Licensing Requirement]; college graduate preferred 3 summers experience in a leadership role at Camp Echo or an equivalent summer camp 3 summers experience, or 2 school years experience, with teen program management Proven track record with training and development of seasonal staff Proven track record facilitating high challenge courses Proven track record developing and executing innovative new programs to meet evolving needs Strong experience collaborating with multiple teams or organizations to execute projects or programs Certified in CPR, AED, Standard First Aid, Lifeguard, and WFR Computer skills: Microsoft Office, online document sharing portals, and web communications Highly organized and detail-oriented; proven track record of follow-through on projects A commitment to diversity, the YMCA core values, and the mission of the YMCA
