Camp Description: Camp Frank A. Day has been owned and operated by the West Suburban YMCA in Newton, MA for over 96 years. Located in East Brookfield, MA—just one hour west of Boston and easily accessible from the Mass Pike or Route 84— the camp encompasses over 52 acres of natural woodlands and lakefront with an extensive beach area. We have tennis courts, an arts & crafts building, playing fields, a climbing tower, modern yet rustic cabins, and an historic dining hall. As a Y camp, our staff is certified in CPR and First Aid and embrace the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We offer traditional two-week camp sessions, introductory one-week sessions, a Leaders-In- Training (LIT) program, Adventure Camp week, Family Camp Weekend, and camp rentals in the off-season.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Looking for a fun, summer job at an amazing camp?? Want to be a part of a special summer camp with great people? The West Suburban YMCA is looking for a Head Nurse for our resident Camp in East Brookfield, MA. GENERAL FUNCTION: The nurse will tend to the medical needs of campers and staff and maintain records of all the health care needs. The nurse will provide a safe and nurturing environment for campers and staff. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: • Licensed as a Registered Nurse, LPN, Physician Assistant, Paramedic, or EMT in MA • Current First Aid and Adult and Child CPR certifications • At least 21 years old, valid drivers license, and an acceptable driving record • Desire and ability to work with and relate to children and one's peers outdoors • Prior experience with the health care of children and adults • Ability to assist with camp wide health care, maintain records, and implement camp health care plan • Good role model, high integrity, and adaptable • Ability to understand and follow directions • Positive attitude and ability to build a cohesive team JOB SEGMENTS: 1. Actively participate in and lead portions of All Staff Training. 2. Follow established state laws, ACA regulations, and camp policies regarding camp health care. 3. Help to stock, maintain and issue first aid kids throughout camp and for special activities and field trips. 4. Maintain a daily medical log and submit accident/incident reports to the Camp Director. 5. Inform the Camp Director of any camper or staff problems, issues, or concerns. 6.Help to ensure each person has on file a current medical form, with required physical exam, immunization record and insurance card. 7. Correct and document, as necessary, situations that endanger the emotional or physical safety of any person. 8. Ensure medical records are taken on out of camp trips. 9. Help to ensure coverage of the infirmary, especially when campers are staying in the ward or the isolation room. 10. Help to maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment; place orders as needed. 11. Oversee the administration and storage of medication, health screens, disposal of medical waste, health checks performed by staff members, making medical appointments, and providing routine medical attention. 12. Determine, in accordance with the standing orders, when individuals must be transported to the hospital or clinic. 13. Follow established health and safety standards of the YMCA, ACA and Dept. of Public Health. 14. Actively participate in staff training, meetings, etc. 15. Help out with all camp activities and participate as a member of the camp staff team. 16. Demonstrate and teach the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to all campers and staff. 17. Follow all camp rules, regulations and policies and enforce them among peers. 18. Maintain positive public relations with parents, visitors, and the general public at all times. 19. Able to visually and audibly identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to assigned activities. 20. Capable to respond appropriately to emergencies and situations requiring first aid and/or CPR. 21. Submit all required paperwork on time. 22. Willingness to go above and beyond your written job description. EFFECT ON END RESULTS: 1. To the extent that campers and staff develop in caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in a safe and nurturing environment. 2. To the extent that equipment and facilities are kept in good repair and condition. 3. To the extent that each program will be the highest quality for everyone to experience enjoyment and success.

Salary Information: $500 per week, June 22nd to August 9th
