Job Description and Required Certifications: Job Summary: Responsible for the function of the Day Camp, Kids Day Out of School programs and support of the Group Service Department during the school season. Scope of Responsibilities: Prepare, implement, manage and meet annual day camp budget: coordinate, prepare and submit the day camp budget according to the budget timeline. Responsible to manage and meet all budget goals for day camp department. Assure compliance to expense budget. Approval for all purchases for programming; maximize fiscal management to maintain budget goals and to assure department surplus budget. Monitor and report day camp financial reports at monthly financial meetings. Market Day Camp program: coordinate, prepare and implement marketing plan for day camp and kid�s day out programs to ensure highest possible level of camper retention and camper recruitment. Develop day camp brochures, KDO, holiday day camp and spring break flyers, day camp postcards and day camp mass mailings. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate day camp staff: while adhering to state, YMCA, ACA and County standards. Hire and supervise 40-50 day camp staff. Develop and implement training schedules for summer day camp staff and KDO staff. Implement mid-summer and end of summer staff evaluations. Develop and implement new and improved day camp programming: direct the day-to-day structure and operation of the day camp program. Coordinate and develop day camp program to accommodate 325-400 day campers. Develop new program ideas for each summer to ensure camper retention. Customer Service: maintain positive relationships with all customer bases from the point of contact including promoting camp, conducting tours, closing all sales, organization & scheduling, and program delivery. Return all customer emails and phone calls within 24 hours. Maintain open communication with all customers to provide proactive quality customer service. Positive team player: Assist program director team with care of camp facilities including, picking up litter, care of camp equipment, opening/closing program areas each season, helping in the kitchen or maintenance areas when needed. Assist with other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Camp Director. Serve as a weekend host: includes professional staff coverage- host 2 weekends a month and 1-2 nights per week during the months of January-April and September-December. Articulate safety concerns, emergency procedures, risk management issues and general camp policies to other professional staff, summer staff, and day campers. Ensure the safety of staff and campers and enforce on-site policies. Participate in association and center events including: annual campaign, united way campaign, tag day, department head financial meetings, Gala committees, association day camp meetings and various trainings. Requirements: Current lifeguard, high ropes instructor and first aid and CPR certifications required. Must have a Bachelors degree with 1 to 3 years experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, supervisory and program development skills. Budgeting experience and proficient computer skills. We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer M/F/D/V.
