Camp Name: Camp Manitou-Lin

Camp Location: Middleville, MI

Camp Description: Located on Barlow Lake, Camp Manitou-Lin offers kids a variety of experiences! To support the amenities listed, we have nine out buildings and 10 resident cabins that can house 220 people. Our riding center houses 50 horses year-round and we also have two archery ranges, a chapel, zip line, high ropes course, rock wall, along with three docks and a variety of boats.

Job Description and Required Certifications: The Arts and Crafts Specialist will plan, direct and supervise camp’s arts and crafts program for both Day and Overnight Camp. This position runs from June-August; Room and Board is required and there will be evening responsibilities. Pay is $200/week. Principal Activities: 1.Set up craft area during staff training. 2.Teach staff their responsibilities in activities during staff training. 3.Teach and monitor proper use of equipment. 4.Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory. 5.Create check-out and return system for craft supplies. 6.Check equipment and make or file for repairs. 7.Conduct daily check of program are and equipment for safety, cleanliness and good repair. 8.Write and check all lesson plans for crafts programming. 9.Assist with overall camp activities. 10.Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring timely arrival of materials. Set-up for face painting on Thursday Evenings. 11.Assist with packing all materials and supplies at end of season. 12.Follow camp rules and regulations pertaining to smoking, use of alcoholic beverages, and use of drugs. 13.These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties many be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required. Education: At least 18 years of age and high school graduate or equivalent. Required: Documented experience in working with children. Additional Qualifications: 1.Documented training and experience in creative arts. 2.Ability to set up demonstration are and program and to teach skills to staff and campers of all ages. 3.Ability to supervise staff, make scheduling assignments and order supplies and equipment. 4.Desire and ability to work with children outdoors. 5.Ability to relate to one’s peer group. 6.Ability to accept guidance and supervision. 7.Good character, integrity and ability to adapt to camp 8.Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of Camp Manitou-Lin and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids ABILITY REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.
