Camp Description: Located on Barlow Lake, Camp Manitou-Lin offers kids a variety of experiences! To support the amenities listed, we have nine out buildings and 10 resident cabins that can house 220 people. Our riding center houses 50 horses year-round and we also have two archery ranges, a chapel, zip line, high ropes course, rock wall, along with three docks and a variety of boats.

Job Description and Required Certifications: The Day Camp Health Officer and Assistant Program Director will supervise health and cleanliness standards, work with the Camp and staff, and help provide adequate physical health conditions for all. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and inclusion. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Ensure the health and safety of all campers and staff. •Ensure each staff member and camper has on file a health history and examination form, as required. •Participate in and lead specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health and safety, CPR, first aid, and use of universal precautions for infection control. •Establish and follow appropriate medical routines, including record keeping in the daily medical log, disposal of medical waste, managing and safeguarding medications, and utilizing approved standing orders. •Conduct inventory of supplies and place orders when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of supplies. •Coordinate coverage of the health officer. •Check and issue first aid kits •Post hours for daily medications and health calls. •Keep accident/incident reports that can be used for risk management assessment. •Identify, minimize and eliminate, where possible, any risks that could cause accidents. •Monitor health of all staff. •Serve as a resource for staff. 1.Carry out camp programs. •Oversee all skills areas ensuring safety, quality instruction and fun. •Assist in planning and implanting evening activites. •Carry out established roles in enforcing camp safety regulations. •Assist in teaching or leading an activity, as assigned. 1.Fulfill staff administrative roles. •Parent communication: face-to-face, e-mail, and phone. •Ensure programs follow established guidelines and ACA standards. •Assume the role of the Assistant Day Camp Director in his/her absence. •Perform all other duties as assigned by the Executive, Senior, or Day Camp Director. QUALIFICATIONS: 1.At least 18 years of age. 2.Current first aid and CPR certifications. 3.Experience with children and young adults desirable. 4.Ability to originate, update, and/or monitor health care. 5.Maintain records, and implement the health care plan. 6.Desire to live and work in a camp community. 7.Ability to assist in teaching an activity. 8.Good character, integrity, and adaptability; enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS. Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Must have 20/20 vision with or without the use of corrective lenses. Must be able to adequately hear with or without the use of hearing devices. Must be in good physical health approved by a licensed physician. Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds. Must be able to understand the position and the duties that are required.
