Camp Description: 9 week Day Camp program providing long lasting summer experiences for children ages 5-13 from Everett, Medford and Malden.

Job Description and Required Certifications: Childhood is a very special time and day camp experiences create memories that will last a lifetime. It is our goal that each child has a positive experience at camp and leaves having learned many things. Camp Madaca, at the Malden YMCA, is looking for outstanding role models to work at camp with children ages 5 - 13 years of age in a variety of settings. By setting an example, the Unit Leader shall teach the campers the importance of the YMCA core values: Honesty, Caring, Respect, and Responsibility. Must be able to communicate with confidence with parents of Camp attendees. Unit Leaders under the supervision of the Camp Director shall be responsible for the safety of campers, and assist in implementation of the camp program for his/her assigned group. Applicants must meet state agency requirements College aged students encouraged to apply. Lead and direct teen to college age staff as they work with campers. Must be 21 years of age or older. Qualifications: Previous experience working with children is imperative including skills in teaching children, teamwork, program planning and implementation. We seek active and energetic individuals with an interest in planning and participating in fun and creative recreational and experiential activities with children. Requires participation with and leadership of youth in a wide variety of physical activities; including swimming and hiking. Good communication skills are required; must be able to interact with campers. Able to work as part of a team. A high degree of physical activity is required must be able to withstand a variety of weather conditions; including heat and humidity. Must be certified in First Aid and CPR and be able to pass a CORI and SORI. Lifeguard and adventure experience wanted. These are seasonal employment opportunities with our day Camp in session (9 weeks) Mid -May thru August 31st. Additional mandatory in-service training hours prior to start of camp required. Camp Unit Leaders pay range $10 - $15 per hour depending on experience.
