Camp Description: Every summer, YMCA Camp Oakes provides the experience of a lifetime for nearly 3,300 campers and, year-in-total, will serve about 11,000 people. Organizations such as scouts, churches, forestry, schools, police and those with special needs participate in a variety of activities at our year-round camp and conference center. Additionally, YMCA's from all across Southern California use Camp Oakes for their summer camping programs.

Job Description and Required Certifications: DESCRIPTION YMCA Camp Oakes, located in Big Bear City, is looking for a seasonal Summer Program Staff to facilitate programs for various groups of youth throughout the summer. For over 50 years, Camp Oakes has taken generations of children, groups, and families to new heights with new friends at their sides. Camp Oakes is the ultimate camp experience, providing high quality programs to all participants. Program Staff positions available in: archery, riflery, fishing, low ropes course, high ropes course, climbing wall, lifeguards, canoeing, nature, crafts, sports and rec, astronomy, and skits/entertainment. All staff will focus on two-three areas, but will cross-train to work in several areas depending on schedule needs. Our full summer runs mid-June through mid-August. We have limited positions available before and after our full summer as well. We are looking for summer program staff who demonstrate a desire to serve others and fulfill community needs. Building rapport and relating to the children, parents and coworkers is important. The YMCA staff strives to meet or exceed goals and deliver a high-value experience for our members. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent First Aid and CPR certification Experience working children preferably in a camp setting Must pass criminal background check including fingerprints Must pass a drug test, complete a health exam to include TB test
