Camp Description: Camp Widjiwagan is an action-packed summer experience where confidence is created through skill development and new friendships are the result of teamwork. Camp Widjiwagan offers resident summer camp for boys and girls ages 7-15 and day camp for ages 5-14. Widjiwagan is an Ojibwa word meaning close, lifelong friend. Because of the nature of teamwork required at Camp Widjiwagan, campers will not only learn more about themselves and their surroundings; they will create lasting friendships, too. At Camp Widjiwagan, campers will strengthen confidence, forge friendships, and sharpen character through programs and activities that build independence and social skills. Water Activities include: swimming, Wet Willy Water slide, the Blob, sailing and many more. Land activities include: horseback riding, soccer, basketball, alpine tower, zip line, archery, arts & crafts and many more. YMCA Camp Widjiwagan is located on the shores of Percy Priest Lake, in Nashville, Tennessee, just 20 minutes from downtown. Camp Widjiwagan sits on 320 acres and 4 miles of shoreline at the Joe C. Davis YMCA Outdoor Center. Although we have excellent facilities and programs, the secret to our success is an outstanding staff. Camp provides children with a community of caring adult role models, who nurture self-respect and appreciation for others. Campers return home more caring and are more equipped to stand up for what they know is right and are more responsible. Camp Widjiwagan maintains a 1:5 staff to camper ratio to ensure camper safety. Camp grows children into happy, independent, confident and capable people.

Job Description and Required Certifications: • Supervise, direct, and coordinate schedules for all full time, part-time and seasonal staff in the kitchen • Constantly assists with attaining the entire facility’s goals of cleanliness and excellent first impression. • Prepares, schedules, and conducts employee evaluations in coordination with the Executive Director, by complying with procedures and deadlines. • Analyzes the training needs of exempt and seasonal staff and provide appropriate training experience to enhance career development and professional growth. • Trains and leads the staff to apply and meet established Branch, ACA and Association policies and standards. • Participates in preparing all program areas for compliance during the ACA visit. • Provides ongoing analysis to determine appropriate changes needed to improve customer service and program effectiveness as it relates to Kitchen operations. • Recommends and oversees the annual budget process for kitchen operations emphasizing income production and expense control. • Directly supervises food ordering and menu planning functions. • Coordinates supplies for kitchen operations through vendors. • Actively participates in YMCA and ACA trainings and committees to effectively position YMCA Camp Widgi in the YMCA and ACA movements, both locally and nationally. • Provide outstanding food quality and service to our guests. • Works with individual participants in accommodating any special dietary needs. • Oversees compliance with all Health Department requirements. • Responsible for all aspects of safety in food service areas, inspects equipment within food service areas for safety hazards, damage or wear. • Increases guest awareness of healthy lifestyle factors. • Follows membership retention practices of the branch. • Attends designated trainings and staff meetings. • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Experience and Requirement Minimum 18 years of age • A 4-year college degree in culinary arts, hospitality management, or significant applicable experience in a related field preferred • Minimum of 4 years supervisory experience demonstrating the ability to recruit, train, motivate and supervise managerial staff, program leaders, and support staff, as well, the ability to work with committees is required. Certifications • Pre-Hire: Complete YMCA of Middle TN application for employment, new hire packet, Praesidium Child Abuse Detection/Prevention training and BBP • Before start of first shift: First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and Emergency Oxygen

Salary Information: $1429.12 to $1,786.41 per pay period depending on experience. 24 pay periods
