Job Description and Required Certifications: The YMCA of Greater New York is the largest youth-service organization in NYC. The organization has grown to encompass 21 branches and more than 140 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City in addition to three camp sites and an upstate conference center. The New York YMCA Camp, located in Huguenot, New York, is seeking for experienced individuals who will be responsible for the outdoor education and nature experience of campers and staff. The Coordinator will be responsible for instruction of the Outdoor Life Skills. Room and board provided. Responsibilities: • Ensure the healthy, safety and well-being of campers, by providing close supervision of all program activities. • Plan, facilitate and teach other staff outdoor life games and activities. • Supervision of staff and campers. • Teach about low impact ecology, basic wilderness survival, outdoor cooking and topics of environmental education. • Provide campers an enjoyable and beneficial experience. • Lead painting, drawing, dance and performance, providing instructional skills to summer staff members. • Create and administer lesson plans across age groups. • Maintain a creative and fun environment for campers and staff. • Maintain a clean area; inventory of supplies and an effective program. • Provide activity leadership within assigned program areas in a manner which promotes safety, fun and education. • Communicate any concerns or problems, relating to campers, co-workers or facility, to your immediate supervisor. • Participate in the planning and implementation of special events activities, campfires and evening programs. • Strive to be a positive role model at all times throughout daily interactions with campers, parents, guests and co-workers. • Step in and assume regular cabin duties as needed. • Follow camp policies and procedures at all times while performing duties. • Attend weekly staff meetings. Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent; minimum of one year of college preferred. • Knowledge of basic wilderness survival, outdoor cooking, topics of environmental education, low impact ecology and outdoor activities. Trip leading a plus. • Supervisory experience required. • Previous residential camp experience preferred. • Minimum of 21 years of age. • Excellent communication skills.

Salary Information: $250.00 P/W
