Camp Description: Camp Nissokone is one of the nations premier properties, with 170 acres of spectacular lakefront in Oscoda, Michigan. Guests stay in 36 newly renovated cabins with modern private bathrooms. A wide variety of activities and programs are offered and the facilities include a 1920 vintage dining hall, boat house/crows nest, theater and ranch with full barn. Job Description and Required Certifications: The Executive Director of Camp Nissokone serves as the supervisor of all camping activities at YMCA Camp Nissokone located in Oscoda, Michigan. This position is responsible for all camping activity and building a suitably experienced team to run all camping activities at the camp year around including day camp, summer youth resident camping, family camp and family and group hosting from late Spring through Fall. In addition, the Executive Director of Camp Nissokone is responsible for fundraising and advisory board development activities related to Camp Nissokone as well as the financial budgeting for the camp. This position seeks an individual who is a self-starter and desires to expand the impact of Camp through increases enrollment in camp, expansion of family camping beyond Memorial and Labor Day Family Camp and greater use by groups such as band camps, Adventure Guides, Schools groups and other specialty groups that desire a camp location for programming. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS This position requires a Bachelors Degree preferably in education, outdoor education, recreation or a related field and at least 5 seasons of senior administrative or supervisory experience in an organized camp. Experience should be in the area of program management, particularly Y Resident Camp, Day Camp, and/or Outdoor Education, with at least 10 years of total camping experience. The incumbent must possess a variety of skills including leadership development, financial development, group work, communication, program planning and management, fiscal control, promotion and public relations, administration, and the recruitment, training, and evaluation of volunteers and staff. This position requires an understanding of the YMCA movement. Current First Aid and CPR is required.
Salary Information: $45,000 - $55,000 depending upon experience (housing included)
